Dear Parent/Guardian,

The Parma Middle School Title I program provides targeted students with extra instructional support within the areas of Reading, Language Arts, and Math.  Students may be identified by one or more of the following criteria:

     * Classroom grades
     * Classroom teacher referral
     * Standardized test scores  (below grade or proficiency level in
 reading and/or math) ISAT, IRI, DMA, DWA are tests considered

Teachers and Title I funded Paraprofessionals work in the classroom with children daily, either one to one, in a small group, or large group.  The amount of intervention is based upon a child's individual need.  Our goal is to provide success for each student and can only be achieved through a cooperative effort with the school, parents, and child.  Please read the following objectives, verify your commitment to supporting your child in his or her learning process, and have your child verify by signature below, his/her commitment in this educational process.

             * Parma School District recognizes and supports the school's responsibility to provide high quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive learning environment for every student.  We also recognize the importance of ongoing communication between teachers and parents through annual parent-teacher conferences; frequent reports to parents on their children's progress; reasonable access to staff; and opportunities for parents to observe classroom activities, volunteer in the classroom or at the school, and to be involved in a parent group at the school.

              * The parent/guardian supports the child's learning process.  This process is enhanced with positive communication between parents, students, and school.  Parents play a vital role in their child's education through exposure to reading materials, supportive communications with the student, and active involvement with the school.

              *       The student supports the efforts of staff and parents in his/her education and agrees to participate in the intervention as well as regular academic programs to the best of their ability.
