Hello All,
Many of you know me, but some of you may not, so I wanted to introduce myself and tell you about my new role in the Parma School District. First off, I have lived in Parma for 30 years and have worked in this school district for almost 20 of those years. I raised my family here and have loved getting to know many of you throughout the years. I can't imagine living anywhere else!
With that said, I was so excited to hear that our school district wanted to implement the community school strategy. There are approximately 35 community schools in Idaho as of SY 22/23. The first one was established in 2016. This is NOT a new concept, but it is new to Parma. I know many of you are asking what this is. I am attaching a video that explains this concept a bit more. But to give you an idea, it's basically a way of bringing community and school resources together to help eliminate some of the barriers that our students, families, and community members face. We all want the same result, for these students and families to thrive and be successful in their lives. There are so many obstacles that these kids face, inside and outside of school. We want to help remove some of these stumbling blocks that hinder growth. Some of these are physical/mental health issues, chronic absences, hunger, language barriers, belonging, and the list goes on. We also know that it takes a village! We hope by working together we can accomplish great things for our school district and community.
As we begin this journey, we need your feedback on what we face in the community. Our hope is that we move forward, we can work together to assist and support our students, families, and community members better. Please click on the link below to fill out a survey that will allow us to get a better idea of the needs of our community. The survey is multi-language and will allow your responses to be in your native language. You can use the language that is most convenient for you.
